The concept of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians seems to be a very underdeveloped one – especially when it comes to the practice of medicine. Except from within a few schools it is often left on the side, and much too often not brought in as an integral part of medical practice.

However in the practice of Internal Alchemy, the Eight Extraordinary Meridians are quite well explored. Practice of Internal Alchemy combined with the perspectives of the Nan Jing and a decade of clinical exploration, have brought about a view of the anatomy and physiology of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians and their relation to spiritual development.
